RMIT University is one of Australia's leading educational institutions. RMIT University began as the Working Men's College in Latrobe St, Melbourne in 1887 and has also been known by a number of other names over the years. Formed in 1887, the university has grown to become one of the largest in the country and has built a worldwide reputation for excellence in vocational and technical education and research. Traditional strengths such as engineering, business and IT sit beside popular contemporary fields including life sciences, communications and fashion.

Our 57,000 students study at RMIT campuses in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Vietnam, online, by distance education, and at partner institutions throughout the world. A vibrant alumni network now stretches across 127 countries. RMIT has three campuses in Melbourne and one in Vietnam , two sites in regional Victoria and offers qualifications in collaboration with more than 190 partner institutions around the world. Links with these universities and colleges also allow our students to participate in exchanges, study abroad programs and cooperative teaching and research programs.

The university is a member of the Australian Technology Network (ATN), a powerful coalition of five leading Australian technology-oriented universities that share a heritage of working with industry and a united vision to provide career-driven education for tomorrow's leaders. We were a founding member of the Global University Alliance (GUA), a partnership of eight international universities dedicated to sharing resources to provide online education throughout Asia.
